This photograph of William H Day is in the Alabama Archives. He was in Company A of the 44th Alabama Infantry at Sharpsburg in September 1862, but his uniform in that picture suggests he had militia or other service in 1861 or earlier. He survived a serious wound to his hand and fingers at Sharpsburg and another severe wound near Petersburg two years later.
